Round and Round it Goes in Roulette History

Out of all the gambling games found in the modern day casinos, the history of Roulette is clearly the youngest one. Other games such as poker or blackjack all originated centuries and sometimes even millennia ago. So how exactly did the Roulette appear in history and who was responsible for making one of the most popular casino games in history?

The setting takes place in France in the year 1655. Famous mathematician Blaise Pascal, who invented the "Pascal's Triangle," had set out to create a perpetual motion device. While his initial experiment in creating a continuous motion device has failed, a side-effect has been created. And this so-called side-effect was the creation of the Roulette Wheel. Many people still say that the origins of the roulette wheel are unknown, but this seems to be the most probable one, since Blaise Pascal had a friend that was very interested in the gambling odds and they both calculated on probabilities of gambling odds.

However the wheel was created, there was little change in the initial creation of Pascal and the roulette was soon established as a game that had a lot of gambling potential. The roulette game has been played in France since 1796 and became very popular in the high society.

In 1843 the roulette game was yet to be modified. This supposedly happened in the German Spa Casino where Frenchmen Francois and Louis Blanc introduced another number into the wheel. Originally the numbers ranged from 1-36, but Francois and Louis Blanc introduced the zero into the wheel which is supposed to increase the odds of the player against the casino or house.

The Roulette game became very popular all across Europe and sometime in the 1800s it finally made its way through the big Atlantic Ocean to the United States of America. It was in the USA were the roulette wheel received another addition which was the double zero. Now many people might be asking why they added a double zero to the roulette wheel. It is because with the single zero, the odds were in favor of the player and not in favor of the casino, and of course in the American casinos this could not be accepted. The double zero places the odds in favor to the casino. There have been many of these upgrades in favor of the casinos throughout history already.

Nevertheless there have been many famous people to crack the roulette code with theories and devices over the time and have also won millions of dollars with it. Now the roulette can be played in our very homes as software or online game. Cleary, Roulette has developed from just a wheel to a game that everybody is spinning around.
